James On His Failed Transfer

Manchester United attacker Daniel James revealed his anger when a move from Swansea City to Leeds United fell through in “crazy” fashion last year.

James, 22, was on the verge of joining Leeds in January 2019, just months before his switch to Old Trafford .

The 10-time Wales international said he had agreed to head to Leeds before the move fell through as the window closed.

“I got to Elland Road about 6pm, did all the pictures with my shirt, all the interviews, because they wanted it to go out in the morning, and then it was strange,” James told former Swansea team-mate Kenji Gorre on the Living The Dream podcast.

“It got to about 9pm and I’d signed all the papers and then it was from club-to-club. I had people texting me saying, ‘What’s happening?’ and I literally didn’t know. It wasn’t until 15 minutes to go until I thought, ‘This might not happen now.’

“I ended up ringing the chairman [of Swansea] to ask him what’s happening. It was all a bit crazy and then it wasn’t done. I threw my phone.

“I thought it’s not real. The chief exec of Leeds wasn’t happy at the time, but then it was just a case of driving home. It was a very weird situation and I think it helped me in some ways.”

James ended up finishing the season with Swansea before joining Manchester United for a reported £15 million ($19m) in June 2019.

He had scored four goals in 37 games in all competitions for United before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

James admits he is still coming to terms with the fact that he is a Manchester United player , with a ‘surreal’ few months resulting in him ending up at Old Trafford.

He told NBC Sports on United showing interest and his subsequent signing: “I can’t remember the exact place I was but I know it was a time near the end of the season.

“It was only talk at the start so I didn’t really believe it to be honest. I still don’t believe it now!

“It was a mad time – I was enjoying my time at Swansea, we had a good end to the season and tried to push for the play-off spots but we didn’t end up getting them.

“To hear that Manchester United were interested was surreal for me because it was my first year in senior football.

“The year before I’d went out on loan and not played so it was just surreal and at the first moment I didn’t believe it.”By Manchester United Worldwide correspondent.

The new wonderkid ‘Veron’

When veron is mentioned in the world of football many Manchester United fans comes to life. Juan Sebastian Veron featured for the team at a brief spell though he started on a low note he would go to become a key player in the team. Named after him is a new Brazilian wonder kid Gabriel Veron, who is being linked with a summer move to London giants Arsenal. This is after his stellar display for his mother club palmeiras, but they face stiff competition for his signature from other teams.

Being just 17-year of age the Palmerias star is being widely tipped to make it to the top of the game soon if not later after his breathtaking moments since breaking into the scene. Having debuted for his team late last year he broke the clubs record as the secind youngest ever player to score for palmeiras after he claimed two goals and an assist in his second game. He has been linked with European heavyweights including Barcelona and their premier league rival Everton.

Arsenal having captured another Brazilian star in the last season in the name of Gabriel Martinelli, are thought to be keen on acquiring Veron as they continue with their rebuilding under their tactician Mikel Arteta. Martinelli has gone to become a star in his own way.He has taken premier league by storm for scoring ten goals before the league was brought into a halt following an outbreak of corona virus. A thought of combining both Brazilians seems a brilliant one bearing in mind Arteta prefers demands pace and short passes which is well accepted in Brazil.

Brazil has been known for producing highly productive finishers in the like of Ronaldo, Neymal,Bebeto, and many others who have graced the fields of the greatest teams in the world. Wearing a number 7 on his shirt Vernon is not short of talent.cutting from wide he has an eye for goal and this can be very essential for Arsenal team which has lacked a world class goal poacher when Aubermayang is out. One of the football legends to be surprised by Vernon is Bebeto having donned the no 7 for his team at his playing time. He expects Vernon to take the world by storm and become one of the greatest players.

Everton had £ 12m rejected by the team to show how worth he remains to the club. But to get him Arsenal have to shed excess of £26m which could be enough to tempt the hierarchy of Palmeiras to part with their prized asset. It is yet to be seen whether the transfer will happen and to experience the rise to greatness of another star in the making.

To compete at high level and to stamp their authority back in the premier league Arsenal through their manager Mikel Arteta have set eyes on other players. Arsenal current midfield had been performing poorly and in order to compete for trophies major changes must occur. The manager has set eyes on 3 players who can prove to be the key to spearhead them to glory. Having signed on loan from Real Madrid last season Dani Ceballos has not fairly performed at his best. He has been injured for a larger part of the season but he has shown some glimpse of quality he possesses at time. Having been partnered with low quality players he has performed well better compared to other team mates and if partners with the right quality players he can become the best.

His passing accuracy is magnificent and has the capability of breaking any defence with a piece of skill. Another player considered is Atletico Madrid midfield maestro party who has been a revelation in the league for the past seasons. He is capable to cover the ground and this can prove key to breaking attacks and spearheading their own attacks. To complete this team is Hausem the ever thrilling midfielder may not come cheap for he is valued much by his team but acts as the beat to partner Thomas partey and Ceballos.

Blessed with pace and skills, he is able to provislde spark in the final third, he can be the perfect replacement of mesut Ozil in the team and his presence could help yield goals for his forward play. He has an eye for goal and has already scored spectacular goals in his career. If Arsenal can be able to get these particular players, then we are prepared to see a rejuvenated team ready to challenge for silverware, for success comes with a price. But it is yet to be seen if the can afford any of them following their reluctant to spend in the previous seasons.

Ajax the team to watch

The world of football has been silent for weeks now after the game was brought to a halt by the outbreak of global pandemic Covid 19. Football in Netherlands has been as well been hit and all its leagues stopped. And after the government directive to ban all major activities until September 1 the Eredevisie clubs are ready to agree on a possibility of ending the league soon. This may be a major blow to teams but a relief to some players who had intended to move in the summer, but have the chance to move now.

Having been linked with Chelsea before Hakimi Ziyech agreed to join them by June and now may have a chance to do so before time seen that no matches to be played when the league is cancelled. Though the deal may still no complicated by the fact that the clear date of the summer window is not yet decided. Eredevisie has been a feeder league to other major leagues. And this seasons the same is expected as football giants are keeping an eye on the league best prospects .

Having signed for Chelsea earlier in January Ziyech will have a chance to move to his team but not in the way he would have liked to. He expected to receive a better farewell from his fans and teammates but with the current situation that is not expected to happen. There are other players in the league who would likely move in the summer though it is not yet confirmed. Van Beek is another player whose future with Ajax is in balance, having stayed put last summer despite numerous suitors around him this season may be different.

He is currently on the radar of Spanish giants Real Madrid who are in the market for a creative midfielder and Van Beek fits perfectly. Its just a matter of time before we see him signing for a bigger club on his way to stardom. Ajax goalkeeper Onana is another player who is not short of suitors all over Europe. The former Barcelona prospect has been a revelation in the league and Chelsea have been linked with his signature the goalkeeper who is fast with his feet will be the center of the bidding war when the transfer reopens. Fayernood prodigy Orkun Kokcu is another on the radar he may not be known at the start of the season. But has taken the league by storm and and being managed by the Raiola he is likely to find a big club waiting.

Ajax may be ready to loose Onana and Ziyech but not their highly rated fullback Nicolas Tagliafico who is on Barcelona radar to replace their underperforming back line. The last whose future is up in the air is Mallen, the former Arsenal player. Having not starred at his time at Emirates he may have reshaped his career and on the way to greatness and he will be on the radar if different teams. But this may mark the worst ending any player could have desired.

Despite loosing key players in recent seasons including De ligt. They have shown they are capable of replacing them perfectly and continue dominating the teams as they are used to. Ajax have been displaying they are capable of suffocating even the best teams. They have a tendency of building their tempo from back and attack swiftly hence becoming a problem to any opposition they face. Whoever they face next they should expect a stronger Ajax no matter whether they will have sold their best players.
